Llianne Olivo
Llianne Olivo is a Dominican-American author of dark, taboo, and pitch-black romance. Born in the Dominican Republic in 1994, she immigrated to the United States with her mother in 2005 and grew up between cultures, languages, and the persistent feeling that her imagination was much larger than wherever she happened to be standing.
She began writing seriously as a teenager in Brooklyn, New York, where her paranormal fantasy series Lethal Species was picked up and contracted by Lybrix. There was only one problem: Llianne was painfully shy, insecure about her English, and completely unprepared for publishing. So, in what may be the most introverted career decision imaginable, she disappeared from her own literary agent.
She went on to study acting, singing, English, creative writing, and poetry in New York before moving to Georgia and continuing her education in business. Through years marked by instability, abuse, grief, and an absent father, writing became less of a hobby and more of a place to survive.
Before publishing under her own name, Llianne spent years writing paranormal fantasy and science-fiction fanfiction in online communities, then worked as a ghostwriter while independently publishing poetry. Eventually, she realized she had spent enough time building other people's stories.
In 2024, she published Haunting Celeste under the pen name L.I.O. Reyes before rebranding as Llianne Olivo and releasing The Captive Trilogy. Her independent work has since reached thousands of readers through Amazon, BookFunnel, direct sales, bookstores, and the gloriously unpredictable ecosystem of social media.
Today, Llianne writes contemporary, historical, fantasy, and paranormal romance populated by obsessive love, morally black men, complicated women, multicultural characters, and people willing to destroy perfectly good lives in the name of devotion. Her stories explore power, trauma, survival, grief, desire, and what happens when people who were never taught how to be loved decide to love anyway.
She also publishes small-town biker and monster romance under the pen name Calissa Stringer and works within indie publishing, where she is particularly passionate about helping Latino authors and authors of color build careers without waiting for someone else to give them permission.
When she isn't writing, Llianne is usually singing, dancing, redesigning a book cover at two in the morning, or trying to remember that having social media requires occasionally posting on it.
Sometimes she posts books. Sometimes she posts flowers. Sometimes she cries over roadkill. It's best not to predict the algorithm.
